On Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to lead the inauguration of 27 distinct development initiatives and also lay the foundation stones for five additional projects, including the esteemed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novotheatre, during her visit to the district.
These projects, with an estimated total cost of approximately Tk 12.40 crore, will be executed under various ministries and divisions, as well as the Rangpur City Corporation.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur district, Mohammad Mobasswer Hasani, the Prime Minister's visit to Rangpur is scheduled for August 2nd.
"From a magnificent gathering at Rangpur Zila School ground, PM Hasina is set to inaugurate 27 development projects and lay the foundation stones of five others, totaling an impressive investment of approximately Taka 1240 crore," as disclosed by the official.
Notably, among these crucial initiatives, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novotheatre holds significant importance.
The project's director, Md Abdul Halim, a Deputy Secretary, revealed that the 10-storey Novotheatre is currently under construction on a vast 10-acre land, with an estimated budget of Tk 417 crore.
Located approximately six kilometers away from Rangpur town, in Rangpur Upshohor, this Novotheatre is poised to become a remarkable addition to the region's cultural landscape.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the establishment of this new project would play a pivotal role in uplifting the socio-economic status of the local community.
In addition to its impact on the economy, Halim highlighted the potential employment opportunities that would be created through this initiative.
Moreover, he expressed his belief that the novetheatre would spark students' interest in space science, ultimately inspiring them to pursue scientific studies.
Notably, the government has already successfully constructed Banagabandhu Novotheatre in Dhaka, with ongoing projects in Barishal, Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Khulna.

Progress on the Rajshahi novotheatre is nearing completion, and it is expected to open its doors to the public within the next one or two months.
Keeping true to her previous commitment, each division will benefit from its own novotheatre, courtesy of Hasina's pledge.
Inauguration of Various Projects in Rangpur:
The Youth and Sports Ministry has an exciting lineup of projects for inauguration, including the Sheikh Russell Media Center, Sheikh Russell Indoor Stadium, Sheikh Russell Swimming Pool, Rangpur Palichara Stadium, and the Divisional Women Sports Complex.
Rangpur City Corporation is also set to unveil essential infrastructural developments, including the Rangpur City Central Bus Terminal, Rangpur City Asphalt Plant, and Store Yard.
Moreover, the Agriculture Ministry has contributed significantly to environmental projects, such as the Nalaya River Re-excavation spanning 19.14 kilometers, Alaikumari River Re-excavation covering 19.24 kilometers, Noimulla Beel Re-excavation encompassing 14.57 acres, Chithli Feel Re-excavation across 19.63 acres, and Varardaha and Patuakamri Beel Re-excavation, which spans 22.89 acres.
Lastly, the Local Government and Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry's contributions are equally commendable, with development efforts including road works from Pirgacha upazila Chowdhurani GC to Shathibari R&H, rehabilitation of roads from Pirgacha upazila Vendabari to Khalashpir GC, and from Kaunia upazila Tepamdhupur GC to Paotana GC.
Additionally, construction of a 96-meter bridge over Ghaghat river at Gopalganj Ghat in Mithapukur Upazila, a 40-meter bridge on Burirhaat GC- Kakina R&H road in Gangachara upazila, and the Pallimari government primary school cum shelter in Kaunia upazila will enhance the region's infrastructure and community facilities.

2. Helencha 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Center in Mithapukur upazila, Rangpur
3. Divisional Health Director's Office for Rangpur Division
4. Matharganj 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Center in Pirganj upazila, Rangpur
5. 14 No Chatra 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Center in Pirganj upazila, Rangpur
6. Begum Rokeya Modern Hospital with 10 beds in Payraband union of Mithapukur upazila, Rangpur
7. Khalashpir 10-bed Mother and Child Welfare Center in Pirganj upazila, Rangpur
Other Development Projects:
1. Preservation of 2540-meter river banks in Pirganj upazila
2. Construction of the Inspection Office for Rangpur Factories and Organizations

2. Bitac Center in Rangpur district
3. Women's Hostel for Rangpur Medical College
