The messaging app under Meta's umbrella is said to be testing a novel AI capability that empowers users to craft personalized stickers through text-based commands. 


This function draws parallels to existing generative AI models like OpenAI’s DALL-E and Midjoruney. 


According to insights from Wabetainfo, the AI feature is currently in the experimental stage and being rolled out to select participants of the Android WhatsApp beta program with version 2.23.17.14.


Upon wider release, users will notice a prompt within their sticker panel introducing the new option. A dedicated button to create these AI-driven stickers will also be at their disposal.


A preview of the forthcoming AI capability was shared, outlining the process. To employ the feature, users will tap the designated button, triggering the generation of AI-crafted stickers.

They'll then input a prompt, like "a cat wearing a hat" or "a dog playing fetch." WhatsApp will subsequently produce a series of stickers closely aligned with the provided prompt. 


If a user finds any of the results appealing, they can swiftly send it to their ongoing conversation.


Furthermore, these AI-originated stickers will bear distinctive identifiers for the recipient's convenience. 


This could entail a watermark, akin to Microsoft's Bing label on images, or an alternative identifier. 


This clarification will emerge when the feature reaches a broader user base.


The report indicates that Meta is employing secure AI technology to generate these stickers, although the specific generative AI model remains undisclosed. 


Irrespective of the chosen model, this functionality is poised to offer users a creative avenue to produce basic, personalized visuals that can be shared as stickers within WhatsApp conversations, imbuing interactions with a unique flair.
