In an announcement today, Education Minister Dipu Moni revealed that the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2024 are slated for February, while the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams will take place in April.


She emphasized that after years of having to adjust the academic calendar due to Covid-19 and natural calamities, the schedule will be stabilized from the upcoming year onwards.


Dipu Moni shared this information during a conversation with journalists after inspecting an SSC exam venue at Tejgaon College in Dhaka.

Assuring their commitment, she stated, "Beginning next year, our utmost endeavor is to hold HSC exams in April and SSC exams in February."


Dipu Moni underscored that over the past five years, there have been no instances of question paper leaks during public exams. 


She expressed confidence that this year's HSC exams would proceed smoothly, with law enforcement agencies prepared to take strong action against any rumor-mongering attempts.


As the country commenced the HSC and equivalent exams for 2023 today, students participated in the Bangla first paper exam at 10 am.


A significant rise in the number of candidates is anticipated for this year's HSC exams, with a total of 13,59,342 students—comprising 6,88,887 boys and 6,70,455 girls—set to appear, marking an increase of 1,55,935 candidates compared to the previous year.


As per the outlined timetable, the HSC written exams are scheduled to run until September 25, followed by practical exams from September 26 to October 4.


This year's HSC exams are distributed across 2,658 examination centers and encompass 9,169 educational institutions.


Among the total candidates, 11,08,594 students will sit for the HSC exams under the nine general education boards, while 98,031 will appear under the Madrasa board, and 1,52,717 under the Technical Education board.
