HOUSTON -- A Texas man, now 25 years old, who was discovered alive after being reported missing eight years ago, has disclosed a distressing tale of enduring years of sexual abuse and drugging at the hands of his own mother, according to a community activist who spoke with him on Wednesday.

Rudy Farias was located near a Houston church last week, following his mother's report of his disappearance in 2015.

Farias was just 17 years old when his mother stated that he never returned home after going for a walk with his dogs.

Officials from the Houston Police Department's Missing Persons Unit held discussions with Farias and his mother on Wednesday, although specific details from the conversation have not yet been disclosed.

Quanell X, a prominent community activist in Houston, revealed that Farias confided in him, recounting years of sexual abuse and extensive drugging by his mother.

"I've never come across a case where a mother inflicted such horrors upon her own child," Quanell X expressed.

"That young man needs access to the finest drug rehabilitation and mental health facilities we can locate. He's a good kid who has suffered severe abuse."

According to Quanell, Farias disclosed that he had run away in 2015 but returned after two days.

Reportedly, Farias informed Quanell about his mother's alleged threats, cautioning him that disclosing any information would result in legal consequences.

Quanell stated that Farias claimed he had been confined to his home for the past eight years.

When questioned about why he didn't leave, Farias explained to Quanell that his mother would administer drugs to him and instilled fear in him regarding approaching the police.

"With remarkable efficacy, she adeptly manipulated him, instilling a firm conviction that any attempt to flee would result in grave consequences, consistently asserting an unwavering dedication of law enforcement to pursue him tirelessly pursuing his capture and incarcerate him," Quanell affirmed.

"She manipulated him into believing that various agencies were actively pursuing his arrest."

According to Quanell, Farias reached a breaking point and desired his mother to respect his boundaries. Reportedly, he took his mother's credit card and departed.

Subsequently, the police located him at a church in Houston on Thursday.

"He expressed that he had reached a point of exhaustion with his mother's disregard for his personal boundaries and desired to live his own life," stated Quanell.

"He expressed with remarkable clarity, 'I grew weary from enduring a life that resembled servitude."

Following the interview with the police, ABC13, the local ABC-affiliate station in Houston, caught up with Quanell and Farias at a hotel in north Houston.

ABC13 is currently awaiting further information from investigators regarding the details disclosed during their conversation.

In a tweet, the police mentioned that the detectives are unable to discuss specific details or comment on the veracity of the allegations being made public.

Meanwhile, neighbors have come forward stating that they were unaware Farias had been reported missing, mentioning that they had seen him around the area.

Based on official documentation from the civil court, ABC13 has obtained exclusive information indicating that Farias' mother currently lives within close proximity on a street situated in northeast Houston.

Kisha Ross stated, "He used to come into my garage, hang out with my cousin, son, and daughter. That boy has never been missing."

Upon Farias' discovery, the Texas Center for Missing issued a statement on behalf of the family:

"We are immensely thankful to the media and the general public for their unwavering support during this challenging period. After an agonizing absence of eight long years, our beloved son, Rudy Farias IV, was miraculously located on Thursday, June 29." Currently, we do not possess any additional information regarding Rudy's case. What we do know is that when he was found, a kind-hearted individual discovered him in an unresponsive state and promptly alerted the police and dialed 911. Rudy is presently receiving the necessary care to recover from his trauma; however, he is currently nonverbal and unable to communicate with us. We kindly request privacy during this challenging period but will share further details as Rudy progresses in his healing journey."

The chief of the Houston Fire Department informed ABC13 that Farias declined transportation by ambulance, with consent provided by his mother, and was subsequently left under the care of his family.

Farias' mother shared photographs with ABC13, asserting that she had taken her son to the hospital.

During that time, the mother believed her son had endured beatings, abuse, and abduction throughout the years.

Another neighbor mentioned witnessing Farias residing at his mother's house for an extended period.

"I was completely taken aback when I found out that someone from this area had been reported missing, and yet we saw him," he expressed. "It's a shock to everyone."

When Farias disappeared, his mother informed authorities that he had been grappling with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder since his brother's passing in a motorcycle accident in 2011, a topic he would discuss with neighbors.

"He mentioned losing a brother in a motorcycle accident," Ross recounted. I observed a distinct pattern wherein he would seclude himself and find solace amidst nature whenever thoughts of his brother consumed his mind.

On Tuesday, ABC13 spoke with Farias' mother outside her residence.

She declined to appear on camera but asserted that the man whom her neighbors had spent time with and observed living with her was her nephew.

She presented a photograph of him, but neighbors contested her claim, stating that the person depicted in the image was not him.

Now, they are struggling to comprehend why either of them would assert that Farias had ever gone missing.

"I honestly don't know. That's what I've been trying to figure out all day," Ross expressed. "I am confused right now. I am like, 'What's going on?'"

According to the Houston Police Department, a family member contacted them in 2018 and informed them that Farias was residing behind a relative's residence.

However, when the police conducted a search, they did not find him.
