Elon Musk's Starlink, the innovative satellite internet service, is gearing up to extend its reach to Bangladesh, providing a lifeline of internet connectivity to geographically remote and disaster-affected communities.

With Starlink's cutting-edge technology, these underserved populations will gain access to seamless and high-speed internet, revolutionizing their online experience and bridging the digital divide.

Following the meeting, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, revealed to Dhaka Tribune that Starlink has furnished two devices for a comprehensive three-month test period.

As part of the testing phase, Starlink will deploy two devices in Bangladesh for compatibility assessment of its internet service. The first device will be installed on a bus, while the second one will be positioned on a remote island.

This strategic approach aims to thoroughly evaluate the performance and functionality of the service across different landscapes and scenarios within the country.

On Wednesday, two SpaceX executives, Joel Meredith, responsible for global government affairs, and Parnil Urdhwareshe, overseeing global licensing and activation, held a significant meeting with top officials from the ICT Division at the ICT tower. 

The purpose of this meeting was to engage in discussions regarding Starlink's upcoming launch and operations in Bangladesh.

Renowned for its satellite internet services managed by SpaceX, Starlink is an American aerospace company that extends satellite internet access to more than 60 countries.

Upon the culmination of the trial run, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will collaborate with Starlink to determine the pricing details.

The Starlink team is eagerly joining the startup event in Dhaka this Saturday.
