Roadwork Zones in the Boulder County Area from July 2nd to 8th, 2023 |
July 1, Boulder Update:
30th Street and Colorado Avenue Underpass Project:
Construction work is underway at the underpass, and as a result, left turns will be restricted for vehicles traveling westbound, eastbound, and southbound.
Sidewalks in the southeast quadrant will be closed, and detours will be in place. Pedestrians are advised to use temporary crossings at 30th/Euclid Avenue and Colorado, west of the intersection.
Cyclists are required to merge with traffic. The northbound bus stop on 30th Street (BOUND) will be closed, and passengers are requested to board at the next stop. The project is expected to be completed by Friday.
Hill Hotel:
Pleasant Street, westbound from Broadway to the alley, is open for local traffic.
However, the eastbound lane is temporarily closed to facilitate the demolition of old buildings, waterline work, and new sewer installation.
The construction activities will take place on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This phase of the project is expected to be finished by January 31.
Limelight Hotel:
The construction of the new hotel and conference center will impact the traffic flow in certain areas.
Specifically, 13th Street will become a one-way road, allowing travel from University to Grandview.
Similarly, Grandview Street will also be one-way, from 13th to Broadway, with no parking permitted.
To facilitate the construction of a turn lane on Broadway, the northbound lanes will be closed. Two-way traffic will be redirected to the southbound lane.
Following this, the northbound traffic will have the outer lane closed, while the inner lane will remain open until July 24.
Construction will take place between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This phase of the project is expected to be completed by January 1.
19th Street Improvements:
Utility work will be carried out in preparation for the city's 19th Street multimodal improvements project.
During active work periods, the street will be reduced to a single lane for vehicle travel.
Construction activities will take place between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The project is anticipated to be completed by August 31.
Longmont Update:
Firestone-Longmont Mobility Hub:
The Colorado Department of Transportation is currently in the process of constructing the Firestone-Longmont Mobility Hub at the interchange of Interstate 25 and Colo. 119.
The majority of the work will take place during daytime hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional overnight work.
Motorists should anticipate intermittent closures of single lanes on Colo. 119 and I-25, as well as temporary closures of on-ramps and off-ramps.
Additionally, there will be lane restrictions of 11 feet on the southbound I-25 on-ramp and the northbound off-ramp at Exit 240.
Construction crews will be realigning the southbound and northbound off-ramps on Tuesday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Temporary closures impacting the I-25 southbound and northbound off-ramps at Exit 240, as well as Colo. 119 and the southbound I-25 main line, will be implemented by the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The project is expected to be completed by August 2024.
Longs Peak Avenue:
The Price Park Tank Replacement Project is currently underway on Longs Peak Avenue. This project, which is set to last for 18 months, aims to enhance water quality and service within the city.
The eastbound and westbound lanes on Longs Peak Avenue now run adjacent to each other along the south side of the road, between Sunset Street and the entrance to the Sunset Golf Course.
Access to Price Park is currently closed, and parking in the Sunset Golf Course and Pool parking lot will be limited until next spring.
However, recreational facilities, including Sunset Park, Sunset Pool, and Sunset Golf Course, are expected to remain open throughout the construction period.
Two-way traffic will still be maintained, but the existing westbound lane will remain closed, and the new traffic pattern will persist until the completion of the project in spring 2024.
Boulder County Update:
71st Street Reconstruction Project:
Boulder County Public Works has initiated the reconstruction of 71st Street, from Lookout Road to Colo. 52.
During the installation of a culvert system beneath north 71st Street, there will be complete closures of the roadway between Winchester Circle and Colo. 52.
Intersection closures will also occur at Colo. 52 and north 71st Street. The project is anticipated to be completed by July 14.
U.S. 287 and Colo. 52:
The Colorado Department of Transportation will commence safety and traffic flow improvements at the intersection of U.S. 287 and Colo. 52 in Boulder County.
Motorists can expect left-lane closures during the day on both U.S. 287 and Colo. 52 at the intersection. Right-turn lanes in all directions will be fully closed until further notice.
Access to roadways, local businesses, and driveways will be maintained throughout the project. Completion is expected in October.
Colo. 170 Culvert Replacement Project:
The replacement of a culvert at Colo. 170 and Marshall Road is scheduled to begin on Monday.
This involves replacing a culvert with wing walls underneath the roadway, as well as excavating and patching asphalt along the highway.
Construction will primarily take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with single lane and shoulder closures along Colo. 170 and Marshall Road.
Traffic signals will facilitate 24-hour single lane closures. It is recommended to use alternative routes along U.S. 36. The project is projected to be completed by November.
Longmont Dam Road Bridge Rehabilitation:
This project has been postponed until fall due to high water levels.
Hygiene Road Paving Project:
The Road Maintenance Division will undertake repaving of the entire stretch of Hygiene Road between U.S. 36 and 75th Street.
The project is expected to continue through July, weather permitting. The western half of the road will be completely reconstructed, while the eastern half will undergo a mill and overlay process.
Significant delays should be expected during working hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, especially on the west end where full-depth reclamation is taking place.
Until paving is completed, the road conditions will be suboptimal, with gravel on the west and milled asphalt on the east.
Cyclists are advised to avoid this road until paving is finished. Reduced speeds will be enforced during the project.
U.S. 36 Surface and Safety Improvements:
A surface and safety improvement project on U.S. 36, between Boulder and Lyons, will commence this month.
The project involves widening and resurfacing various sections of the roadway.
Work will be carried out between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will involve lane closures, turning lane closures, and shoulder closures, resulting in travel delays.
Some night work is also planned between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. throughout the project duration, expected to last through August, weather permitting.
Mead Update:
Weld County Road 13:
There will be a temporary one-lane closure on WCR 13, located south of WCR 32.
This closure is expected to last approximately four to six weeks, followed by a complete closure for two weeks. The road work is associated with the Red Barn development.
Traffic control measures and message boards will be placed in the area.
Residents will maintain access to their properties along WCR 13 during the one-lane closure.
Concrete Repair and Replacement:
Mead will be conducting a concrete repair and replacement program in the downtown area. The work will involve saw-cutting damaged areas, followed by removal and replacement of the concrete.
The repairs are scheduled to take place during the month of June and are anticipated to be completed by Friday.
Please note that all street maintenance activities are subject to weather conditions, equipment availability, and material availability.
The work areas will include downtown, the North Creek subdivision, and the Hunters Ridge entrance.
During periods of construction and road closures, it is advisable to use alternate routes.
Additional road work is planned subsequent to the concrete repairs, including asphalt patching and reconstruction, crack sealing, and slurry sealing.
Adams Avenue:
Road widening will commence on Adams Avenue, west of WCR 7. The northern shoulder will be closed for several weeks, and eventually, the area will transition to one lane with flaggers to facilitate paving.
Traffic control measures and message boards will be installed in the vicinity. This road work is associated with the Range View development project.
From Wednesday to Friday, there will be a lane closure on Adams Avenue.
During this time, a single traffic lane will remain open while crews work on removing and replacing an underground storm line. Automated traffic lights will be utilized instead of flaggers.
Weld County Update:
Westbound WCR 44 Closure:
The westbound section of WCR 44 at the intersection of U.S. 85 and WCR 33 will be closed for asphalt paving until July 10.
To navigate around the closure, please follow the designated detour route indicated by the posted signs at WCR 31 and WCR 42.
Closure of WCR 33:
WCR 33 will be closed to all traffic at the junction with U.S. 85. Please plan alternative routes accordingly.
Erie Update:
County Line Road Closure:
County Line Road, spanning between Colo. 7 and Monroe Street, is now permanently closed to all northbound and southbound traffic as part of ongoing infrastructure developments.
This closure is necessary to facilitate utility work associated with the Lafayette Water Reclamation Facility Expansion project and align with the decommissioning plan within the Parkdale development project.
During this transition, residents are advised to follow the designated detour route using 119th Street and Arapahoe Road.
However, please note that this detour is temporary. The completion of Coal Creek Boulevard and Monroe Street later this summer will establish a new primary southbound route to Colo. 7.
Sheridan Parkway Closure:
There will be a complete closure of both northbound and southbound lanes on Sheridan Parkway, from CR 4 to Ridgeview Drive.
Throughout the project duration, residents and motorists can anticipate limited access to residential and commercial areas, potential delays due to construction activities and road work, as well as the presence of traffic control devices and flaggers.
Construction equipment will be present in the area, and reduced speeds within work zones will be enforced.
Single lane closures and full closures of Sheridan Parkway will be implemented as required, possibly resulting in narrowed lanes and occasional width restrictions.
Detour signs will be prominently displayed to guide motorists around the closures and offer alternative routes.
Work hours are scheduled from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Town of Erie may authorize weekend and after-hours work, subject to approval.
The project schedule may be affected by inclement weather. The anticipated completion date for the project is by the end of June.
