Pair Detained for Making Death Threats Against Sayeedi's Physician |
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police have apprehended two individuals, one of whom is a woman, on charges of issuing death threats against the doctor at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) who provided medical care to Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, a war crimes convict and Jamaat leader, just prior to his demise.
One of the arrested individuals, Tafsirul Islam, aged 23, was captured in Maheshpur, Jhenaidah, by RAB operatives and is currently en route to Dhaka for further questioning, as reported by a communication from RAB headquarters.
In a separate operation, the CTTC apprehended a woman named Hafiza Mahbuba Brishty (32) from Uttara, Dhaka, in relation to the same incident.

This information was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner Faruk Hossain, who is responsible for media affairs at Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Dr. Mustafa Zaman, a cardiologist at BSMMU who provided medical treatment to Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, a convicted war criminal and Jamaat leader, lodged a general diary (GD) at Dhanmondi police station seeking protection after receiving threats on his life.
Md Parvez Islam, the officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi police station, confirmed that the doctor lodged the GD complaint, detailing that he had received death threats through Facebook Messenger.
Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, a war criminal convict, passed away while under the care of Prof. Chowdhury Meshkat Ahmed, the chairman of the cardiology department at BSMMU, around 8:40pm on August 14th.
