On August 1st, as per a report by the Financial Times, Meta Platforms (META.O) is gearing up for the upcoming release of a diverse collection of artificial intelligence (AI) driven chatbots, each possessing distinct personalities.
The company has been diligently crafting prototypes for chatbots capable of engaging in humanlike conversations with users, aiming to enhance its social media platforms' interactivity and user engagement.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, the Financial Times highlighted Meta's efforts to leverage AI in order to connect more effectively with its audience. The planned launch of these AI-powered chatbots is expected to take place as early as September.
In its pursuit of enhancing user engagement, the social media titan headquartered in Menlo Park, California, is actively delving into the realm of chatbots.
Among their ambitious ventures are chatbots embodying the persona of Abraham Lincoln and a laid-back surfer, each serving a distinct purpose – one to provide an innovative search function and the other to offer personalized recommendations.
The revelation comes amid Meta's executive team's dedicated efforts to bolster retention rates on their latest text-based application, Threads.
Following its debut on July 5, the app experienced a significant loss of more than half of its initial user base in the subsequent weeks, prompting Meta's focus on finding effective strategies to retain and engage their audience.
Meta refrained from providing any comments on the FT report, as per Reuters' inquiry.
In its recent earnings announcement, the parent company of Facebook showcased a significant surge in advertising revenue, and it anticipates third-quarter revenue to exceed market expectations.
