Once again, the Powerball jackpot has experienced a remarkable surge, currently standing at an impressive estimated amount of $875 million.

This substantial sum places it among the most substantial prizes ever witnessed in the game's extensive chronicles.

Following the drawing on Wednesday night, no fortunate players were able to match all six winning numbers: 23, 35, 45, 66, 67, along with the Powerball number of 20.

Consequently, the jackpot continues to grow exponentially.

Anticipation builds as Saturday's drawing approaches, with the upcoming jackpot poised to become the third-largest in the illustrious history of the lottery game.

Only two previous jackpots have overshadowed this colossal amount: the remarkable world record of $2.04 billion, won last year, and the staggering $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot claimed in 2016.

In the upcoming Saturday's draw, should an individual successfully match all six numbers, they will have the opportunity to claim the staggering prize of $875 million.

The winner can opt for yearly installments or choose to receive a lump sum payment of $441.9 million before taxes.

Powerball Prize Skyrockets to a Staggering $725 Million as Monday's Drawing Yields no Jackpot Winner

Game officials have revealed that an impressive streak of 36 consecutive Powerball drawings has passed without a grand prize winner.

The most recent occurrence took place on April 19 when a ticket purchased in Ohio matched the winning numbers, securing the substantial prize of $252.6 million.

According to recent studies, it has been revealed that approximately 60% of the proceeds generated by state lotteries in the United States are distributed among the lucky winners, while the remaining funds are retained by the states after fulfilling obligations like prize payouts and advertising expenses.

However, in the case of larger lottery games such as Mega Millions or Powerball, an impressive 50% of ticket sales contribute towards augmenting the prize pool.

Powerball, a widely popular lottery game, is accessible in 45 states across the nation, along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Notably, there are five states—Alabama, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii, and Nevada—that do not participate in lottery ticket sales.
