In an extraordinary event that unfolded in Stockholm, Sweden, the renowned and decorated musician graced the stage, purportedly bidding adieu to his illustrious career as a touring artist.

Sharing a heartfelt video on his official Instagram account, the British music maestro expressed his sentiments about the unforgettable journey embarked upon during this tour. 

With a touch of nostalgia, he wrote, "What a remarkable voyage this tour has been, and now we find ourselves at its culmination. Tonight marks the final chapter."

The poignant video featured a segment from a CNN interview conducted by Anderson Cooper back in 2018, during which the music icon had declared his retirement from touring. 

In the clip, John emotionally proclaimed, "It's the last time that I will be touring and traversing the globe."

Commencing in 2018, the esteemed artist embarked on the "Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour," a magnificent journey that garnered him five Grammy awards. 

Originally scheduled to conclude in 2021, fate had different plans as the tour encountered an unforeseen obstacle—the global Covid-19 pandemic. 

Nevertheless, after a hiatus necessitated by these circumstances, the tour resumed, steadfastly proclaiming itself as the final chapter in the artist's remarkable five-decade-long odyssey on the road.

A sensational feat, the tour encompassed a staggering number of over 300 captivating shows, drawing in an astounding crowd of more than 6 million fervent supporters from every corner of the globe. 

Elton John's Instagram video proudly attests to this monumental achievement. 

As the curtains gradually closed on his farewell tour, the 76-year-old maestro graced the illustrious Glastonbury Festival, where he headlined as the crowning jewel of his final performances in the United Kingdom.

In his candid discussion with Cooper back in 2018, Elton John revealed that his choice to retire from the touring lifestyle stemmed from his desire to prioritize his family. 

The celebrated musician, who shares two sons with his husband David Furnish, acknowledged the transformative impact of parenthood.

During the interview, he poignantly expressed, "When we assessed our children's school schedule in 2015, we realized that I would be absent for too many precious moments."

He affirmed that he would continue his musical journey, channeling his energy into crafting new compositions even though he would no longer be a constant presence on the road.
